The Cheltenham Arts Society group has been working on the church record for the church of St Peter, Dumbleton since 2017. The field work has been completed. This has included investigations by our team concerning such aspects as Stonework, Memorials, Metalwork, Paperwork and books, Textiles, Windows, Woodwork and Paintings.   With a hiatus, due to the pandemic our work has only just been completed.  The record we have produced has now been presented to St Peter's Church in Dumbleton.

Church Recording Presentation

On Sunday 1st August 2021 members of The Arts Society Cheltenham Church Recording group attended Morning Prayer at St Peter’s Church Dumbleton. The service included a presentation by the Church Recording group of the Record of Church Furnishings.

The service was crafted to include appropriate Bible readings concerning the building of Solomon’s Temple. On behalf of the Church Recording group a presentation speech was made by Paul Foster and an enthusiastic reply was given by Paul Steggles on behalf of the church.

A paper copy of the record and a mid-17th century Bible belonging to the church were on display. The especially prepared service booklet noted: ‘We are exceedingly grateful to the Arts Society to have this amazing record. This is a wonderful comprehensive survey of the history of the building and its contents and took their dedicated volunteers a massive amount of time to complete.’
